All text files that used to open before correctly in my old Windows 7 Home are not displaying now
when i choose windows default encoding, it is still scrambled, as attached below:
when i choose Arabic (windows) text encoding, it displays correct
in Notepad i did Format -> Font -> I choose: Arial font & Arabic script
And when I type in same text files in Arabic, it can display the letters I type correctly as below:
"Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Keyboards and Languages -> Change Keyboards" shows that I have Arabic in the Installed Services
And Arabic is installed as display language but English is chosen as I don't want menus in Arabic
In Media Player Classic, it can display Arabic letters correctly, so System can display Arabic as you can see
When i type in Arabic in Notepad, and save in unicode format, open it back, it show Arabic correctly as well. but what about old text files ?
In similar issue
the solution said "Start\Control Panel\ Regional and Language Options, Go to "Advanced" tab and change the "Language for non Unicode programs" to an Arabic language." after installing Arabic.
I can't find this Advanced tab or this option in any of the other tabs in (Windows 7 SP1 x64)'s control panel!!
What can I do now to display old non-unicode text files correctly ? as it used to do before ?
Answer is:
Start\Control Panel\ Regional and Language Options\Administrative Tab
"Language for non Unicode programs" section
[Change System Locale...] button
and made it Arabic (Egypt) - as my country is Egypt
